The Staged Migration methodology is designed to ensure the most recent messages (sent/received within the last 12 months) are migrated to target mailboxes in advance of the cutover. This ensures that after the cutover is performed and users first log into the target mailbox (just after the cutover), email messages from the last 12 months are already there. Once the cutover is performed, Liberation then proceeds to migrate all remaining data from the source. For Standard and Advanced Project Types, this is the recommended migration methodology.
For customers that want mail routing to the new platform updated as quickly as possible, Liberation can perform a single-pass migration of all data after mail routing is updated and users are live in the new platform. Or if your target platform is already live and no mail routing changes are required, then a single-pass migration is the recommended migration methodology.
Your cutover is when DNS records are updated and email from external users is delivered to your new mail platform (“Go live”).
You may schedule your cutover only after you have updated your Onboarding doc, uploaded it to your Project Portal and received confirmation it has been successfully validated by Transend. At this point you will see a Schedule Cutover page in your Portal that allows you schedule your cutover.

A self-service migration of a few mailboxes can finish the same day. A done-for-you project usually runs one to three weeks end to end: onboarding meeting, staged pre-cutover pass, the cutover itself, then the remaining historical data. Size, source platform and how much archive history you keep are what move the number.
No. Your existing mailboxes keep receiving mail right up to the cutover, and we confirm mail is flowing into the new platform before migration processing continues. A final delta pass picks up anything delivered to the old system during the switch, so no message is stranded.
Yes. Google Workspace, Gmail, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Outlook PST and OST files, IMAP servers and most legacy mail systems are supported. Tenant-to-tenant projects (Google to Google, or M365 to M365) are supported as well and are priced as a project.

Yes. Our website transfer team can move your site and DNS at the same time as your mail, which is usually the cleanest way to do it — one DNS change, one cutover window, one team accountable for both.
If you need additional services or help, one of our experts will be happy to assist you.
Mail, calendars, contacts, tasks and archives move across, with folder structure and read/unread state intact. Shared resources — rooms, distribution lists, aliases, delegation and directory attributes — come over on Professional Services projects. A delta pass at the end catches anything that arrived while the migration was running, so nothing is left behind on the old platform.
Your mail lands on Liberation Email, private email hosting on servers we own and operate in the United States, with no ad scanning and no mining of your messages. Teams that also need shared calendars, files, chat and video can land on Hub For Teams instead and get the whole workspace in one move.
You choose staged or single-pass, and you choose who updates DNS. We confirm mail is flowing into the new platform before migration processing starts, and help desk support stays with you for a week after go-live. Moving your website at the same time? Our website transfer team can run both together.
