Chat, files, boards and calendars in one workspace.

Moving off Slack means moving your channels, direct messages, files and your team’s daily workflow into Hub for Teams — Liberation’s all-in-one chat, video, file storage and project management app, all under one login.
When you move from Slack, decide how much history needs to come with you. Active channels and pinned reference material usually do. Old social channels and one-off project rooms often do not. Export what you want to keep, list the integrations and bots your team relies on, and pick a cutover day so people are not posting in two places at once.
Chat often carries sensitive information, so review who has access as part of the move. CISA explains multi-factor authentication in plain terms, and our guide on password managers covers keeping team logins under control.
Teams that move from Slack usually want to know three things: what moves, in what order, and when the old account can be closed. The graphic below summarizes the process, and the same steps are explained in more detail further down this page.
If you are weighing whether to move from Slack now or wait, the timing is yours to choose. You can move from Slack in one window or in stages, and the old account stays live until you confirm the new one works for everyone.
People who move from Slack often ask about cost first. Our migration team walks through the plan with you before anything starts, so you know what it takes to move from Slack before you commit.
Some questions come up on almost every move from Slack. Can we move from Slack without downtime? Yes, because the old account stays live until the cutover. How long does it take to move from Slack? We confirm the timeline with you before anything starts. Will we lose anything when we move from Slack? We confirm what moves before we begin, and anything that cannot move is listed up front.
If you would rather talk it through, tell us what you use today and we will explain what it takes to move from Slack for your team.
Most team migrations complete within a few business days of you approving the plan, with a scheduled cutover window so there’s no unexpected disruption for your team.
Your Slack workspace stays live and untouched while we build and configure your new Hub for Teams workspace.
Channel names, membership and pinned files move over; how much message history transfers depends on your Slack plan’s own export tools — we’ll tell you exactly what’s included before we start.
You pick the day your team switches over, and we’re online while everyone signs in for the first time.
There’s no dual system to manage during the transition — once your workspace is ready and your team has tried it, the old Slack workspace can be archived or closed out on your schedule.
The most common reasons: per-seat pricing that climbs fast as the team grows, message history that disappears after 90 days on the free plan, and a tool that only does chat — files, video and tasks all need a separate subscription. See the full Slack vs. Hub for Teams comparison →
Channel structure and membership move over; message history transfers based on what Slack’s own export tools make available for your plan.
Shared files and pinned items move into Hub for Teams’ file storage, organized by the channel or project they came from.
We set up every team member’s login and permissions before the cutover, so nobody has to self-register on day one.

The hard part of leaving Slack is not the software. It is that Slack is where your decisions live. Years of context — why a price changed, what a client agreed to, who approved a refund — exists only as messages, and it is written down nowhere else. Any plan that does not address the history is a plan to lose it.
Start by establishing what you can actually export, because that depends on your plan and on the type of conversation. Public channel history is exportable on every plan. Private channels and direct messages are a different matter, generally requiring a higher paid tier and, depending on circumstances, an approved request to Slack. Find out what you are entitled to before deciding what to keep.
Free-plan history is the urgent case. On the free plan, message history beyond a rolling window becomes inaccessible rather than deleted, so a workspace that has been running for years may already be unable to show you most of it. If that describes you, export what you can still reach now. This is the one item on this page with a deadline attached to it.
Then be realistic about what an export actually is. It arrives as structured data files, not as a browsable chat history. Making it useful means importing it somewhere or building an index over it, and for most businesses the honest answer is that the export becomes a records archive while day-to-day conversation starts fresh on the new platform. Deciding that deliberately is far better than discovering it.
How we handle it: we confirm what your plan allows you to export, pull it before anything changes, store it as a retained archive, and stand the new platform up alongside Slack so your team moves across without a hard switch. Hub For Teams gives your team shared calendars, contacts and storage on your own domain. Book a call and tell us how old the workspace is.
