Moving off Liquid Web means your server: files, databases, users, cron jobs, SSL, and mail if it’s hosted there. It all moves as part of one free migration, handled by a person on our team rather than a self-service import tool.
If you plan to move from Liquid Web, the job is a server migration, not just a website copy. Your new Liberation dedicated server needs the same sites, databases, users, cron jobs, SSL certificates and mail as the old one. We move each piece in a planned order, test the result, and only then switch DNS.
Many teams look for a Liquid Web alternative when the introductory rate ends and the renewal shock arrives. When you move from Liquid Web to Liberation, the price stays steady and you keep full root access. You also get an engineer who does the move for you, which matters when downtime would cost you customers.
Before you move from Liquid Web, it helps to take a full inventory of what runs on the server. A clear list of services, scheduled jobs and dependencies makes the server migration faster and safer. The CISA guide to multi-factor authentication is a good checklist item to finish on the new server as well.
A planned move from Liquid Web usually takes a few business days, depending on data size. We keep your old server live as a fallback until everything is verified, so visitors rarely notice the change. If you want a Liquid Web alternative with a predictable bill, send us your current setup and we will scope the migration.
Teams that move from Liquid Web usually want to know three things: what moves, in what order, and when the old account can be closed. The graphic below summarizes the process, and the same steps are explained in more detail further down this page.
If you are weighing whether to move from Liquid Web now or wait, the timing is yours to choose. You can move from Liquid Web in one window or in stages, and the old account stays live until you confirm the new one works for everyone.
People who move from Liquid Web often ask about cost first. Our migration team walks through the plan with you before anything starts, so you know what it takes to move from Liquid Web before you commit.
Liquid Web is a capable managed host with real engineers behind it. Most people looking to move aren’t unhappy with the servers — they’re unhappy with what happened at renewal, when the intro rate on an entry dedicated or cloud server roughly doubled. We move your server (root/SSH access or a full snapshot, your choice), keep everything running during the handoff, and land you on a flat-rate Dedicated Cloud Starter plan at $65.95/month that doesn’t play the renewal-shock game.
Root/SSH access to your current Liquid Web server, or a full server snapshot — whichever you’re more comfortable sending. No downtime during the handoff.
Sites, databases, users, cron jobs, SSL certificates, and mail (if it’s hosted on the same server) all move to your new Liberation Dedicated Cloud server.
DNS changes happen once everything’s tested and verified — during a low-traffic window, with your old server kept live as a fallback.
That’s it. Full root access, same server capability, without the introductory-rate trap.
Liquid Web’s entry Dedicated Cloud Starter server runs about $77.50/month for the first two months, then renews around $155/month — roughly double the rate that won the sale. Liquid Web was acquired by One Equity Partners in April 2023 and is now held under CloudOne Digital.
Every site, database, file, and configuration on your current server — moved as-is, not rebuilt from scratch.
Server users, scheduled cron jobs, and SSL certificates all carry over so nothing breaks on day one.
If you’re running mail on your Liquid Web server, we move mailboxes and settings right along with everything else.
Dedicated Cloud Starter at $65.95/month, flat. The price you start at is the price you keep.
About $77.50/month for the first two months, then roughly $155.00/month after that — on its entry dedicated server.
Before DNS ever changes, we verify every site loads correctly on the new server — forms, checkout flows, email, the works.
DNS changes happen on your schedule, during a low-traffic window, with your old server kept live as a fallback until you’re confident.

You are not leaving an unmanaged server here, which makes this a different conversation from most migrations. Liquid Web sells managed hosting, so the useful question is not whether the next provider manages things but exactly which things — and what you are currently paying for that you never use.
Start by writing down what you actually consume: server management and patching, monitoring, backups, a control panel licence, email, certificates, support response times, and what you genuinely call support about in a typical quarter. A great many managed accounts are sized for a workload the business has since outgrown in the other direction, and the saving turns out to be in right-sizing rather than in switching providers at all.
The technical migration is usually the easy part. Managed accounts tend to be tidy — a standard control panel, documented configuration, functioning backups, and somebody on the other end who can answer a question about how it was set up. Use that while you still have it: ask for the configuration details in writing before you give notice, not after.
Check the term and notice period before choosing dates. Managed hosting is commonly sold on annual commitments, and the cheapest version of this move is often to migrate when it suits you and let a paid term expire rather than cancelling into a penalty. We will read the dates with you.
How we handle it: we price against what you actually use rather than against your current invoice, migrate the site and mailboxes, test on a temporary address, and cut over DNS when you choose. If the right answer is that you should stay where you are, we will say so. Website Migration is included with hosting, email and Hub plans. If you are not on a plan, or you want a one-off move, it is $250. Book a call with your current invoice and renewal date to hand.
