Liquid Web is a capable host with real engineers behind it. Most people looking for a Liquid Web alternative are not unhappy with the servers — they are unhappy with what happened at renewal, or they want a smaller, independent American company holding the whole stack.
This page is an honest side-by-side, including the parts where Liquid Web does something we do not.
We handle the move so you can keep working.
“I have had a great time working with the team at Liberation getting set up to migrate my servers over from DigitalOcean and AWS. And the best part is I know I am not going to be unexpectedly shut down because of some opinionated TOS nonsense.”
Kevin Gilleard · Google review
Liquid Web’s entry dedicated server is advertised around $77.50 a month for the first two months, then renews at roughly $155. Our Dedicated Cloud Starter is $65.95 a month and the price you see is the price that recurs. There is no promotional window to diary.
One Equity Partners acquired Liquid Web in April 2023 and folded it into a holding company, CloudOne Digital, alongside Nexcess, StellarWP and Modern Tribe. Roll-ups change pricing and support priorities on their own schedule. LiberationTek is independently owned, American, and answers to its customers.
Your server, your business email, your domain registration, your SSL and Hub for Teams sit on one account with one bill and one support team that can see all of it. Most deliverability and downtime problems are actually DNS problems, and those get solved faster when one team holds every piece.
Every LiberationTek hosting plan carries a published 99.9% monthly uptime guarantee, with a one-day service-cycle prolongation for each hour below that line. Liquid Web publishes a higher figure, 99.99%, also remedied in service credits. On the number alone they are ahead; what ours gives you is one guarantee that reads the same across shared, VPS, reseller and dedicated.
CodeGuard is included on most plans and handles daily offsite website backups you can restore yourself. Underneath that, the data center is backed up daily with seven-day retention. You are not buying a backup product separately to be covered.
We publish a written client-protection commitment and an acceptable use policy that does not remove customers over lawful speech. If we ever have to make a change that affects you, you get 15 days’ notice. For a lot of our customers that is the whole reason they moved.
A managed U.S. dedicated cloud server next to Liquid Web’s managed dedicated hosting. Liquid Web details are from its own published managed-dedicated pages and from independent 2026 pricing reviews, checked September 2026. Specifications differ between the two, so read this as a like-for-like on terms rather than on hardware.

Send us your current plan, the sites, databases and services on the server, and anything unusual in the stack. We size a Dedicated Cloud plan against what you actually use rather than what you were sold.
Give us access or a backup image and our migration team moves sites, databases, users, cron jobs, SSL certificates and mail across. We review and quote before we start.
Everything runs on the new server at a temporary URL while your Liquid Web server keeps serving live traffic. You check it properly before anything changes for visitors.
We update DNS, issue SSL through AutoSSL and watch the first 48 hours. Then you cancel with Liquid Web, having already seen the new server work.

Liberation can transfer your website content from most site builder platforms.
If you want managed dedicated resources in the United States without an introductory rate that doubles, LiberationTek Dedicated Cloud starts at $65.95 a month with 2 Intel cores, 4 GB DDR5, 250 GB NVMe storage, 500 GB bandwidth, a cPanel/WHM licence, free SSL and advanced site security. The price you are quoted is the price that recurs. Plans scale to 8 cores and 16 GB, and Build Your Own lets you pick your own operating system and resources from $16 a month.
Liquid Web advertises its entry dedicated server at roughly $77.50 a month for the first two months, with a published renewal of about $155.00 a month. That is a normal promotional structure across the hosting industry rather than anything unusual to Liquid Web, but it does mean the figure that won the comparison is not the figure you pay from month three. Our Dedicated Cloud pricing does not work that way — $65.95 is the advertised rate and the recurring rate.
One Equity Partners, a private equity firm, acquired Liquid Web in April 2023 and formed a holding company called CloudOne Digital, which also holds Nexcess, StellarWP and Modern Tribe. That is publicly announced and not a criticism in itself — the company is well resourced. It does mean ownership priorities sit with an investor rather than with the founders. LiberationTek is independently owned and operated in the United States.
Every LiberationTek hosting plan — shared, VPS, reseller and Dedicated Cloud — carries a published 99.9% monthly uptime guarantee. The first 45 minutes of unavailability each month, which is 0.1%, are not eligible; below that line we offer a one-day service-cycle prolongation for each hour the server has been down. Liquid Web publishes a 99.99% SLA with service credits, which is the higher figure of the two. In both cases the remedy is hosting credit rather than a cash refund, and in both cases you have to claim it.
Yes, on two levels. CodeGuard is included on most plans and takes daily offsite website backups with built-in redundancy that you can restore yourself. Separately, the data center is backed up daily with seven days of retention. Liquid Web includes Acronis Cyber Backups with its managed dedicated servers, so both of us cover this — the difference is that ours restores at the website level through CodeGuard.
Yes. Our migration team moves sites, databases, users, cron jobs, SSL certificates and mail from most hosts and platforms. We review what you are running and send a quote before we start. Everything runs on the new server at a temporary address while your Liquid Web server keeps serving live traffic, so you can test properly before DNS changes and before you cancel anything.
When you want fully managed as the default rather than as a service you add. Liquid Web sells core managed, fully managed and self-managed tiers on dedicated servers, and its fully managed tier goes deeper into server-side administration than our standard Dedicated Cloud plan does — ours includes cPanel, SSL and site security, with managed services available from our team on top. Liquid Web also offers Plesk and InterWorx alongside cPanel, where we are cPanel only. And if you need single-tenant bare metal with a dual-Xeon specification, that is a class of machine they sell and we do not. Our 30-day money-back guarantee also does not extend to Dedicated Cloud, so book a call with us first rather than buying blind.
Dedicated Cloud gives you guaranteed cores, memory, storage and bandwidth that are not shared with anyone else, on hardware LiberationTek owns and operates in the United States. It sits above VPS hosting, which also gives guaranteed resources but at smaller allocations. If your site has outgrown shared hosting, or you are running multiple applications or client accounts, Dedicated Cloud is the tier that fits.
Liquid Web is not a bad host. It has real engineers, a 99.99% SLA with credits, Acronis backups on managed dedicated servers, and support that answers around the clock.
If someone tells you otherwise they are selling you something. So the useful question is not whether Liquid Web is good. It is whether what you are paying for is what you actually need.
Liquid Web advertises its entry dedicated server at roughly $77.50 a month for the first two months, renewing at about $155.00.
That structure is normal across hosting. It is also the single most common reason people go looking for a Liquid Web alternative: the comparison was won by a number that only existed for eight weeks.
Over twelve months that is roughly $1,705 with Liquid Web against about $791 on our Dedicated Cloud Starter. The specifications are not identical, and we will say so plainly rather than pretend a 2-core machine is a dual-Xeon. But the pricing structure is the difference you feel every month after the second one.
Three things, and you should weigh them before you move.
Fully managed is their default, not ours. Liquid Web sells core managed, fully managed and self-managed tiers, and its fully managed tier goes deeper into server-side administration than our standard Dedicated Cloud plan. Ours includes cPanel, free SSL and advanced site security, with managed services available from our team on top. If you want someone else inside the operating system by default, that is their product.
They offer control panel choice. cPanel, Plesk or InterWorx. We are cPanel and WHM only. If your team is built around Plesk, that matters.
They sell a class of machine we do not. Single-tenant bare metal with dual-Xeon specifications is genuinely their territory. If that is your workload, buy it from them.
And one more: our 30-day money-back guarantee covers first-time Shared, Reseller and VPS accounts but does not extend to Dedicated Cloud. Book a call and let us size it with you rather than buying blind.
The price stays. $65.95 is the advertised rate and the recurring rate. There is no promotional window to put in your calendar.
The uptime guarantee reads the same on every plan. 99.9% monthly across shared, VPS, reseller and Dedicated Cloud, with a one-day service-cycle prolongation for each hour below that line. Liquid Web publishes 99.99%, which is the better number and we will say so. What ours gives you is one figure that does not change as you move up or down our range, and a remedy that is hosting credit in both cases rather than cash.
Backups run on two levels. CodeGuard is included on most plans and takes daily offsite website backups you can restore yourself. Underneath, the data center is backed up daily with seven-day retention.
One vendor holds the whole stack. Server, business email, domain registration, SSL and Hub for Teams on one account and one bill. Most downtime and deliverability problems turn out to be DNS problems, and those are much faster to fix when one team holds the domain, the mail and the server.
Ownership is not a roll-up. One Equity Partners acquired Liquid Web in April 2023 and folded it into CloudOne Digital alongside Nexcess, StellarWP and Modern Tribe. That is a well-resourced group, and it also means pricing and support priorities answer to an investor. We are independently owned and American, and we answer to customers.
The acceptable use policy says what it means. We publish a written client-protection commitment with 15 days’ notice of any change that affects you, and an acceptable use policy that does not remove customers over lawful speech. For a good number of our customers that is the entire reason they moved, and it is the one thing a bigger host cannot easily copy.
You are a good fit if your server is running business sites and applications rather than a bespoke high-performance workload, you want guaranteed resources with cPanel and a predictable bill, and you would rather have one American company holding your server, your email and your domain than four vendors and four invoices.
You are not a good fit if you need fully managed administration as standard, a control panel other than cPanel, or bare metal at a specification we do not sell.
If you are unsure which of those describes you, send us what you are running now. We will tell you honestly, including when the answer is to stay where you are.
