Move From Constant Contact To Liberation Campaign

A person sets up your Liberation Campaign account, imports your contact lists and templates, and schedules the cutover around your schedule, not ours.

The short answer

Move from constant contact is the topic of this page, explained in plain terms before you choose a provider.

Moving off Constant Contact means moving your contact lists, campaign templates and automations into Liberation Campaign — billed by emails sent, not by how many contacts you happen to be storing. If you want the pricing argument on its own, our Constant Contact alternative page lays it out side by side.

Most account migrations complete within a few business days of you approving the plan, with a scheduled cutover window so there’s no unexpected gap in sending.

What actually happens

We build your account first

Your Constant Contact account stays live and untouched while we build and configure your new Liberation Campaign account.

We import your lists and templates

Contact lists, segments and tags export from Constant Contact’s own tools and import into Liberation Campaign; campaign templates are rebuilt to match your existing designs.

We schedule the cutover with you

You pick the day you switch sending over, and we’re online while you send your first campaign.

There’s no dual system to manage during the transition — once your account is ready and you’ve sent a test campaign, your Constant Contact subscription can be downgraded or canceled on your schedule.

Why people leave Constant Contact

The most common reason: Constant Contact bills by contacts stored, not emails sent — so a large list you rarely email still costs the same every month, and there’s no way to drop the bill in a quiet month. See the full Constant Contact vs. Liberation Campaign comparison →

What moves, what doesn't have to

Contact lists & segments

Contact lists, segments and tags export from Constant Contact and import into Liberation Campaign, so your targeting carries over.

Campaign templates

Your existing email designs are rebuilt to match in Liberation Campaign’s editor, so your campaigns look the same to subscribers.

Automations & forms

We recreate your sign-up forms and automated sequences (welcome emails, event reminders, etc.) so they keep running after the switch.

Priced the way a business buys

Starting prices, billed by emails sent. Migration itself is free regardless of which tier you choose.

What It Costs

Starting prices, billed monthly unless noted. Anything larger gets a written quote. Full plans are on the Liberation Campaign page, and if you also need mailboxes on your own domain rather than just bulk sending, that is Liberation Email from $1.95 per user a month.

Step-by-step: export your Constant Contact data and switch your sending over

Export your Constant Contact data

  1. In Constant Contact, export your contacts from Contacts → Export, and note any automations or forms you rely on.
  2. Send us the export along with a list of the automations and templates you want rebuilt.
  3. We build your Liberation Campaign account: lists imported, templates recreated, and forms/automations rebuilt to match.
  4. We test with a sample send, then schedule the cutover for a time that works for you.

We test before you send

We send a test campaign through your new Liberation Campaign account and check it against your live Constant Contact setup before anything real goes out.

We schedule the cutover with you

You pick the day you switch sending over, and we’re online for your first live campaign.

Your old Constant Contact account stays intact until you’re ready to downgrade or close it out yourself.

Common questions

No. Constant Contact’s own contact export includes your full list, segments and tags, and we import that directly into Liberation Campaign.
We rebuild your existing automations (welcome series, event reminders, etc.) and sign-up forms in Liberation Campaign before the cutover, so they keep running.
Yes. We rebuild your campaign templates to match your existing designs in Liberation Campaign’s editor before you send anything live.
Yes — migration is included with any plan switch, no setup fee and no surprise line on the first invoice.

The structural difference is what you are billed for. Constant Contact bills on how many contacts you store; Liberation Campaign bills on emails actually sent, starting free for your first month at 1,000 emails and $10 a month at 10,000 sends. A business with a large but quiet list usually pays considerably less. Our Constant Contact alternative page runs the comparison properly, and there is a savings calculator that will do it for your own numbers.

Yes. The process is the same: export lists, templates and automations, rebuild them in Liberation Campaign, warm the sending domain and schedule a cutover. See Mailchimp alternative or the full list of migration services for whichever platform you are on.

Ready to leave Constant Contact?

Book a call and tell us about your list size and sending habits — we’ll give you a migration timeline and a written quote, no obligation. We handle the move ourselves; see all migration services if you are moving more than email, or email deliverability if your sending reputation needs attention before the cutover.

What actually makes leaving Constant Contact hard

These accounts tend to be old, and that shapes everything about the move. Many were opened a decade or more ago by a chamber of commerce, a nonprofit, a church or a local business, and the list has grown by hand ever since — event sign-up sheets, business cards, names typed in from a clipboard. That list is genuinely valuable, and it is also the part needing the most care, because consent records for somebody added at an event in 2014 are usually nowhere to be found.

So the first job is not technical. It is deciding who you can still legitimately email. Addresses that have never opened anything, addresses collected before anyone was recording consent, and addresses that have since changed hands are liabilities on any platform. Pruning them before you move protects your new sending reputation and lowers your bill at the same time, because contact-based pricing means you have been paying for every one of them.

On reputation: your list exports, your standing with receiving servers does not. Mail currently going out through Constant Contact’s infrastructure benefits from their reputation. From a new platform you build your own, which means starting with your most engaged contacts at modest volume and increasing over a couple of weeks rather than sending to everybody on the first day.

Templates are the other thing to plan for. Years of carefully built newsletter layouts live in their editor in their format, and they do not transfer. The content transfers; the layout gets rebuilt. That is a design task, usually a small one, and it is much better done deliberately than reproduced badly — most templates of that vintage are overdue a refresh anyway.

How we handle it: we export contacts with whatever engagement history exists, help you prune the list honestly, rebuild your template properly, publish SPF, DKIM and DMARC on your domain, and ramp your sending over a couple of weeks instead of all at once. Liberation Campaign handles the sending. Book a call with your contact count.
