InMotion is a long-running American host and a reasonable one. Most people searching for an InMotion Hosting alternative are not leaving over the servers — they are leaving because the renewal invoice was two to three times the price that won the sale.
Here is the honest comparison, including the tiers where InMotion is the better buy.
We handle each step so you can keep working.
“A year ago, I decided to migrate my website to their hosting platform in order to move away from big tech, and gradually, moved all of my domains over. Customer service is 5 stars. You get a one-to-one relationship as well as fast, friendly and knowledgeable service.”

Published shared hosting rates on both sides, introductory against renewal. InMotion figures are from independent 2026 pricing reviews, checked September 2026. LiberationTek figures are our own published rates on a three-year term.

Plan | Introductory | Renews at | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
InMotion Launch — 2 sites | $4.99/mo | $13.99/mo | +180% |
InMotion Power — 10 sites | $5.99/mo | $17.99/mo | +200% |
InMotion Pro — 40 sites | $10.99/mo | $24.99/mo | +127% |
LiberationTek Starter — 2 sites, 10 GB | $7.99/mo | $12.99/mo | +63% |
LiberationTek Ramping Up — 5 sites, 20 GB | $9.99/mo | $19.99/mo | +100% |
LiberationTek Growth — 9 sites, 40 GB | $13.99/mo | $24.99/mo | +79% |
InMotion’s shared plans renew between roughly 127% and 200% above their introductory rates. Ours renews 63% above at the Starter tier — $7.99 to $12.99. Every host discounts a first term; the question is how far the number travels afterwards, and that is the number to compare.
For two websites, InMotion Launch renews at $13.99 a month and our Starter renews at $12.99 with 10 GB of NVMe storage. That is the tier where we are straightforwardly the better buy after the first term. At higher site counts InMotion is cheaper, and we say so further down this page.
Every plan runs genuine cPanel and WHM. A cPanel account exports and restores on any other cPanel host, which means leaving us is a file transfer rather than a rebuild. That is invisible on day one and decisive in year three.
Site security, an SSL certificate, an SEO tool and a 2 GB burstable port are in the plan price rather than sold as add-ons at checkout. What you see on the plan card is what runs.
We publish site counts and storage that the plan can actually carry rather than a large number that assumes most accounts stay empty. If you need to host 10 or 40 sites cheaply, read the honest comparison below before you move.
We publish a client-protection commitment with 15 days’ notice of any change that affects you, and an acceptable use policy that does not remove customers over lawful speech. For a lot of our customers that is the whole reason they moved.

Tell us your current plan, the sites on it and your domain. We will say which Liberation plan fits, and tell you honestly if the Site Builder or a VPS is the better answer.
InMotion runs cPanel, so a full account backup restores cleanly on our side. We handle sites, databases, email, cron jobs and SSL, and nothing at InMotion is touched until you are happy.
Your site runs on the new server at a temporary URL while InMotion keeps serving live traffic. You check it properly before any visitor sees the change.
We update DNS, issue SSL through AutoSSL and watch the first 48 hours. Then you simply let the InMotion term run out rather than paying into another one.
Real customer reviews. LiberationTek is rated 4.9 out of 5 on Google and 4.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot (September 2026).
Liberation can transfer your website content from most site builder platforms.
InMotion’s published shared hosting renewals sit well above their introductory rates. Independent 2026 pricing reviews put Launch at about $4.99 introductory renewing near $13.99, Power at about $5.99 renewing near $17.99, and Pro at about $10.99 renewing near $24.99 — increases of roughly 127% to 200%. Every host discounts a first term. The figure worth comparing is the one on the second invoice.
At the entry tier, after the first term, yes. Our Starter plan renews at $12.99 a month for 2 websites and 10 GB of NVMe storage, against roughly $13.99 for InMotion Launch and its 2 websites. Our renewal jump is also smaller — 63% against 180%. At higher site counts InMotion is cheaper than we are, and we would rather tell you that here than have you work it out after you move.
Usually, yes. Our Starter carries 2 sites, Ramping Up 5 and Growth 9. InMotion Power advertises 10 sites and Pro advertises 40, both at renewal rates that beat ours per site. If your requirement is hosting a lot of small sites as cheaply as possible, InMotion Power or Pro is the better buy and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We publish site counts the plan can genuinely carry rather than a large number that assumes most accounts stay near-empty.
When you host a handful of sites rather than dozens, and you want the renewal price to be close to the introductory one. When you want site security, SSL, an SEO tool and burst capacity in the plan price rather than added at checkout. When you want your hosting, business email, domain and team tools on one account and one bill. And when a published, speech-neutral acceptable use policy and a written 15-day client-protection commitment matter to your organization.
Because it is how you leave. A genuine cPanel account exports and restores on any other cPanel host, so moving away is a file transfer rather than a rebuild. Hosts that run their own custom panel make leaving expensive by design. Every LiberationTek plan runs genuine cPanel and WHM, including the $12.99 Starter, and InMotion runs cPanel too — this one is a point in both our favour against the panel-locked hosts.
Yes. Our migration team moves sites, databases, email accounts, cron jobs and SSL certificates from most hosts and platforms, InMotion included. Because both sides run cPanel, the transfer is straightforward. Everything runs at a temporary address so you can check it properly before DNS changes, and you only let the InMotion plan lapse once the new one is working.
On hardware LiberationTek owns and operates in the United States. We do not sell or share customer data, and there is no advertising business attached to the hosting. You get genuine cPanel, root-level portability of your own account, and a written commitment that if we ever have to make a change affecting you, you get 15 days’ notice.
Those are different comparisons. InMotion’s bare-metal and reseller plans undercut ours at comparable specifications, which we have said plainly elsewhere on this site. We have a separate page covering their reseller plans against ours, where the argument is dedicated resources and a capped renewal rather than headline price. If you are shopping those tiers, start there rather than with this page.
InMotion is a long-running American host that runs genuine cPanel and has real support behind it. This is not a page about a bad company.
It is a page about one specific thing: what happens on the second invoice, and whether the plan you are on is still the right shape.
Independent 2026 pricing reviews put InMotion Launch at roughly $4.99 introductory, renewing near $13.99. Power goes from about $5.99 to about $17.99. Pro from about $10.99 to about $24.99. Those are increases of roughly 180%, 200% and 127%.
Our Starter runs $7.99 introductory and $12.99 at renewal — a 63% increase, and a lower renewal figure than Launch for the same two websites, with 10 GB of NVMe storage.
Every host in this market discounts the first term. The number worth writing down is the second one.
We are going to be direct about this, because you will find it out anyway.
If you host a lot of sites, InMotion wins on price per site. Power advertises 10 websites at a renewal near $17.99 and Pro advertises 40 at a renewal near $24.99. Our Ramping Up carries 5 sites at $19.99 and Growth carries 9 at $24.99. On raw site count at renewal, they are ahead and it is not close.
The same is true of their bare-metal and reseller plans, which undercut ours at comparable specifications. We have said so elsewhere on this site and we are not going to say something different here.
So if your requirement is hosting as many small sites as cheaply as possible, buy InMotion Power or Pro. That is the honest answer.

A shared hosting plan advertising 40 websites is priced on the assumption that most accounts will never get near it. That works until your accounts are the ones that do, and then the neighbours you share a box with become your performance problem.
We publish counts the plan can actually carry. That is a worse marketing number and a better hosting experience, and it is a deliberate trade rather than an oversight.
Site security and malware scanning, an SSL certificate, an SEO tool, a cPanel licence and a 2 GB burstable port are all in the plan price.
InMotion sells its Monarx security add-on and its AI SEO helper as separate line items. Neither approach is wrong, but the comparison only works if you price the same basket on both sides.
This one is a point in favour of both companies against much of the market.
A genuine cPanel account exports and restores on any other cPanel host. Leaving is a file transfer rather than a rebuild. Hosts running a custom panel — and several large ones do — make leaving expensive by design.
It also makes moving between us and InMotion straightforward in either direction, which is worth knowing before you commit to anything.
We publish a written client-protection commitment: if we ever have to make a change that affects you, you get 15 days’ notice. Our acceptable use policy is speech-neutral and does not remove customers over lawful speech.
Your hosting, business email, domain registration, SSL and Hub for Teams also sit on one account with one bill and one support team that can see all of it. Most email and downtime problems turn out to be DNS problems, and one team holding every piece fixes those faster.
For a good share of the organizations we host — churches, campaigns, firearms retailers, policy shops — that combination is the entire reason they moved, and no amount of cheap site count replaces it.
Switch if you run a handful of sites, you want the renewal close to the introductory price, you would rather have security and SEO in the plan than at the checkout, and a published speech-neutral policy matters to you. Stay if you need 10 or 40 sites on one cheap plan, or you are shopping their bare-metal or reseller tiers on price. Send us what you are paying and what you are running, and we will tell you which of those you are.
